UME Publication Announcement: The Role of Extension Programs in Promoting Digital EquityTitle Page: Extension Programs Report


[August 22, 2024] The University of Maryland Extension (UME) Marylanders Online initiative has partnered with the Northeast Center for Rural Development (NERCRD) to publish a report titled "Insights from the 2023 Northeast Digital Equity Summit: A Report on the Role of Extension Programs."

Held virtually on September 19, 2023, the 2023 Northeast Digital Equity Summit convened educators and researchers from land-grant universities across the Northeast to explore the role of extension programs in expanding digital equity. The Insights report provides an oversight of the summit’s key sessions, including definitions, takeaways, initiatives, and best practices that aim to bridge the digital divide in our communities. The publication emphasizes the vital responsibility that extension programs have in fostering digital equity, and outlines actionable strategies for implementation.

UME remains committed to promoting digital literacy, equity, and inclusion for all.  Anyone involved in digital education and equity initiatives is encouraged to read this insightful publication.
