Jake Day, Secretary

About

Jake Day has served as the Secretary of Housing and Community Development since March 2, 2023, and was Acting Secretary of Housing and Community Development from January 18 to March 2, 2023. Jake was elected President of the Salisbury City Council from 2013-15, as well as Mayor of Salisbury, 2015-23.

Born in Salisbury, Maryland, Jake earned a BS at the University of Maryland, College Park, an MA at Carnegie Mellon University, and an MS at Oxford University, with distinction. He also served in the U.S. Army. 

He is a member of the Governor's Executive Council, 2023-; Commerce Subcabinet, 2023-; Governor's Subcabinet on Infrastructure, 2023-; and Smart Growth Subcabinet, 2023-.
