What does this resource cover? 

This workshop was created by AT&T, Learning Alchemy LLC, Michelle Frisque Consulting Group LLC, and the Public Library Association and shared on DigitalLearn.org and will introduce learners to using email.

 

What will community members learn? 

According to the included lesson plan, after learners complete this workshop, they will be able to:

  • Create an email account
  • Identify the tools and apps needed to use email
  • Perform basic email functions, including:
    • Logging into and out of an email account
    • Communicating through email
    • Recognizing and dealing with spam
    • Organizing and deleting email
    • Searching for messages
  • Use email tips and tricks, such as:
    • Getting started with Gmail
    • Keeping an email account safe
    • Identifying the terms Draft, Attachments, Reply All, Forward, CC, and BCC.

 

How long will this program take?

60-90 minutes

 

What materials are needed?

In-person: Projector, projection screen, Internet-connected computer for instructor, Internet-connected computer for each participant, scratch paper, pens/pencils, handouts

 

Online: Web conferencing software, Internet-connected computer for instructor, Internet-connected computer for each participant

 

How many staff are required?

One staff, 2-3 additional volunteers are recommended.
