Beginning January 2026, the University of Maryland Extension (UME) Marylanders Online Digital Literacy Project will enter a planned transition phase that will continue through December 2026. During this time, the project will operate at reduced capacity and shift to a consultative model focused on long-term sustainability, resource refinement, and program quality.
While day-to-day operations will be scaled back during this transition, Marylanders Online remains committed to supporting digital literacy efforts across the state and ensuring that essential tools and services remain available to Maryland residents and community partners.

Transition Timeline
Through December 31, 2025: Full staff, operations, and programming continue.
January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026: Reduced staff and limited operational capacity.
Program & Service Continuation
Tech Helpline The Marylanders Online Tech Helpline will remain open with adjusted hours. Residents will continue to receive one-on-one digital support, including accessibility and language assistance. Clear escalation pathways will remain in place for partners who need additional support. | |
Resources & Curricula Digital literacy resources, including the website, Get Help and Give Help curricula, facilitator guides, and program materials, will continue to be available to support local organizations and Maryland learners.
Digital resources will continue to be shared through the use of the website calendar, newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. Partners are encouraged to share events, resources, and related service updates by email to MarylandersOnline@umd.edu. Resource and workshop recordings will remain posted on the UME Marylanders Online YouTube.

Project Team & Oversight A limited number of UME staff will maintain management of the Marylanders Online Navigator Education Toolkit (MONET) train-the-trainer program, Maryland Digital Asset Map project, data collection, partner presentations, resource updates, and other initiatives related to long-term sustainability planning. These efforts will ensure that UME Marylanders' Online resources remain up to date, accessible, and sustainable. |
