Big news for digital inclusion in Maryland!

The Maryland Digital Equity Coalition (MDEC) has now transitioned to the Office of Statewide Broadband (OSB) under the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Read the press release.

Launched in 2023 under the leadership of the University of Maryland Extension, Marylanders Online has played a key role in convening partners and collaboratively supporting the creation of MDEC's framework.

In 2024, the coalition combined forces to deliver a series of 18 webinars to address the digital accessibility and sustainability needs expressed by MDEC partners. Marylanders Online has engaged with many members of MDEC network, including Rural Maryland Council, Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition, The Maryland Department of Information Technology, Maryland Relay, CareerCatchers, UMD College of Information to provide tangible resources that advance Maryland's digital progress.

Under OSB’s leadership, the momentum of MDEC will continue to grow and benefit from sustained institutional support. We look forward to staying alongside every step of the way. Learn more about MDEC.
