2026 MONET Digital Navigator Training Cohort
[March 1, 2026 - College Park, MD] Registration is open for the 2026 MONET training cohort - a drop-in-when-you-can digital navigation certification course developed by UME and INFO.
The University of Maryland Extension's annual digital navigator training is taking a new, more flexible shape this year. The Marylanders Online Education Toolkit (MONET) is a nationally recognized navigator certification training that blends online modules and live, interactive instructional sessions. Developed by the University of Maryland Extension in partnership with the University of Maryland College of Information, MONET is setting a new standard for digital navigator certification. About the 2026 MONET Rolling Cohort
Open + Rolling Enrollment: March through July 2026
This rolling cohort offers flexible options for digital navigator certification. The hybrid curriculum consists of 12 UMD Open Learning modules and live, interactive instructional sessions. Live instructional sessions are held twice weekly, designed to deepen understanding of topic material, build confidence, and translate knowledge into community impact. One live session must be attended for each course topic to receive certification. Each session topic will be covered multiple times between March and July 2026 to ensure everyone has an opportunity to complete it.

MONET Cohort Graduates will earn:
- Certificate of Digital Navigation
- 3 CEUs from the University of Maryland
- Data-backed strategies from successful programs

Training Requirements
- 12 online modules must be completed independently in UMD's Canvas ELMS
- 3 in-person live instruction sessions, offered twice-weekly.
- Tuesdays, 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m
- Thursdays, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

This includes library staff, educators, community health workers, social workers, government employees, students, and volunteers - anyone helping neighbors navigate the digital world.
