About

Charlotte Avery is the Program Impact Manager for both the Institute for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence in Law and Society (TRAILS) and the Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Institute at Maryland (AIM). In this role, she leads the design, implementation, and management of participatory programs that advance education and workforce initiatives with broad societal impact in trustworthy and responsible AI. With over 15 years of experience in K–12 and higher education, Charlotte is a seasoned educator in mathematics, computing, and educational technology. Her expertise includes curriculum development, teacher preparation and coaching, event coordination, and strategic program development. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Studies at the University of Maryland, where her research explores how emerging technologies—particularly artificial intelligence—shape decision-making, policy development, and digital literacy in education systems, especially among historically underrepresented communities.a
