About

William Hegwood is the founder of ThunderPath, an emerging initiative dedicated to advancing green digital access, energy resilience, and community-based innovation. With over a decade of experience building partnerships across sectors, William focuses on bridging technological, cultural, and generational divides so that communities have the infrastructure, tools, and networks to thrive.

He has developed relationships with more than 100 organizations and partnered with cultural institutions such as the Hampton University Museum and the historic Penn Center in South Carolina to connect digital access with heritage preservation and intergenerational learning. William is also building partnerships with STEM Racing USA, an internationally recognized program that uses motorsports to inspire young people to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on experiences.

As a former Volunteer Champion with Apple Inc., William connected employees with meaningful service opportunities that supported education, community development, and technology access.

He also serves as a workforce development coach and program lead at CareerCatchers, Inc., where he oversees the Rapid Rehousing Vocational Program in partnership with Montgomery County’s Services to End and Prevent Homelessness (SEPH). In this role, he supports jobseekers navigating housing instability and limited digital access, helping individuals build new pathways to stability through personalized coaching and skills development.

William serves on the boards of the Montgomery County Food Council, Words Beats & Life, and the Children’s Opportunity Alliance, contributing to regional strategies in food justice, youth development, and early childhood care. He holds a BA in History from Hampton University, a Master’s in Education Administration, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Instructional Design at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
