Gretchen is a passionate advocate for gender and racial equity in tech, and civic technology movements. Her work over the past 20+ years in the non-profit and human services sector has focused on technology education, workforce development, and social justice. In 2013 Gretchen cofounded the nonprofit, Code in the Schools, with an after-school club of 20 high school students. Code in the Schools now serves thousands of Baltimore City youth each year through their computer science education programs. Gretchen currently serves as the senior program manager for digital equity at the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation where she works to support nonprofits and government agencies in expanding access to affordable internet, computing devices, and digital skills training. Gretchen is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore where she has taught courses in cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, and data activism. She holds a B.A. from St. Johns College, Annapolis, and an M.S. from the University of Baltimore. Gretchen lives in Baltimore City with her husband and four children.
